Healthy is the New Goal #2
Heart of Wellness | Healthy is the New Goal! Crowding out what doesn’t serve me!
Hey! It’s Jenn from Heart of Wellness and today we are going to talk some more about how healthy is the new goal. Last video we talked about how the scale is not our keeper!! It does not measure our self worth! We also touched on the idea of “crowding out”. Let’s expand on that! I love the idea of crowding out!! It doesn’t say to me–hey you can never eat pizza again! Chocolate is in your past, girlie- forget all about it! NO! That thinking is toxic!! If you can follow that and it works for you! Awesome sauce!! But that just does not work for me! I love food, all kinds but moderation is key here! It’s best to get those amazing fruits and veggies in and then, if there’s room, have a little dark chocolate! Indulge in that Friday night slice! Don’t use that old habit of “I can’t have that” and then binge on it two days later because it’s now all that’s been on your mind! So yeah that’s totally been my experience! With crowding out, you are not on a “so called diet”! You are, and remember these words, habit stacking!! Yes!! Think of brushing your teeth, drinking coffee in the morning- all habits that you have stacked over time! But I don’t want to go too far in to habit stacking since we can go over that at another time, I want to concentrate on crowding out! Ok so let’s start with the easiest, most simple way to crowd out- drink more water! I know you’ve been told this a hundred times but it’s honestly the truth! Our bodies love water and it does fill us up! Now, like I said, I love to eat! So one thing that really helps me kick my sweet tooth is fruit! Its nature’s candy! Some people say it’s too high in sugar and I am not a doctor so I can’t say what is and is not right for you, but there are so many fruits to choose from! Berries are low on the glycemic index so maybe add some of them. There are many studies done on the way fruit reacts to our blood sugar and a lot of them say that the sugar in fruit reacts differently then processed sugars and although I find fruit does not spike my blood sugar, again, I am not a doctor! But it’s something to ask your doctor about! It’s so easy to add an apple to lunch! And so easy to carry with you! And veggies! I had no idea how easy it was to add veggies to my diet! I make green drinks before my breakfast! I slice up carrots and cucumber on Sundays and eat them through the week, trust me, I have tons of recipes for cooking them too! Ok so what else can we crowd out? How about negative self talk? Yeah! It’s a biggie! I saw a quote once that said something like “you are the person you talk most to during the day, be kind” and I thought, Whoa that is so true! How often do we pass a mirror and and make a face or tell ourselves we are not smart enough, fast enough, pretty enough, whatever- without even thinking about it? With healthy being our new goal, we have to remember that health is not just what we feed our bodies but also what we feed our minds! It sounds so corny but it’s 100% truth! So if you want to talk anymore about the concept of crowding out, shoot me an email at jennifer@heartofwellnesscoaching.com. And remember- go confidently in the direction of your dreams and live the life you’ve always imagined! Love to you all!
