train track

Where is this “track” and am I even on it???

Hey! It’s Jenn from Heart of Wellness and today I want to share my latest journey with you, just incase you might have felt this way too! Summer always seems to pull me “off-track” and this got me thinking, why? But wait! The why is a totally different “why” then you might think! I am not asking myself “why did I get pulled “off-track” again but instead I am asking “why am I judging all over myself again?” So then this question occurred to me: where is this track and am I even on it? And the answer is, that track is a tired, old, rundown station that needs to be retired and put away for good! We are not trains! We are living, breathing people with our own thoughts, feelings and experiences. There is no station manager waiting for us to fall behind schedule. We are own conductors! We set the pace. Some days will be more of struggle. Some days we will fall completely down, but the difference in how we handle these times, is how we think about it! My coach once told that you can’t fix the problem with the brain that created the problem. What?? I only have one brain! What does that mean? Well, you’re in luck because I’ve been thinking a lot about this and here is what I have decided, your brain will continually pull you back to what it thinks is safety. It will pull you back to comfort foods and worry, even bouts of anxiety, all in the name of keeping you safe. I need to accept that this is going to happen! What I do not need to accept is the way these thoughts continue and make me feel. I can change my own, personal thoughts! I can say, who cares about that track and where it’s going? Who cares if I feel like I fell down on the job of taking care of me? Oh, right, I care! So, I can change it! I don’t need to judge all over myself. I don’t need to feel like a failure because I gained weight or stopped my exercise program, or let anxiety get the best of me. What I can do is forgive myself! Whoa! Is that even possible? Well, it takes practice! But it is possible! I know better, so I do better! I can mentally pick myself up, dust myself off and walk the hell away from that track! I can cut my own path and empower my brain! I have the power! I am not giving my power away to judgement, fear and self-loathing. I am holding on to my power and saying- ok! I am moving forward! Sometimes to move forward you need to clear up some stuff from the past that may feel like a side-step or even a slip-back. I am not saying there will never be a time when you don’t feel “Pulled off track”, all I’m saying is empower yourself! Read things that inspire you, take time to listen to your body, meditate, smile and listen to happy music! Stop and think before you let your thoughts run away with you! Give yourself other options then pick the option that feels best for you! Run with that feeling! It might not stay forever but now you know, you can change the way you feel by changing the way you think! Change that “train” of thought and forget all about the “track”!
